Verizon announces Houston, TX as a 5G city

Verizon has been talking about its 5G network rollout plans for quite some time now, and the big red carrier has just confirmed a new city to help spearhead that launch.

Verizon has announced that it will be deploying 5G coverage in Houston, TX in the second half of 2018. This is the carrier’s third city to get 5G coverage, with Los Angeles and Sacramento, CA being the other two cities. For those keeping track, Los Angeles should get 5G coverage sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. But, as is typical at this point, Verizon isn’t actually announcing any specific rollout dates just yet.

It’s also worth noting that while Verizon will have a mobile 5G network rollout at some point in the near future, this particular 5G service is meant for the internet you’ll have in your home. It will be powered by millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum when it goes live.
