Samsung reveals Gear 2, Gear Fit pricing information

When Samsung announced its new Gear 2 and Gear Fit wearables last month, it said that the Tizen-powered wearables would launch in April but declined to reveal the prices for either device, saying instead that that information would be revealed at a later date. Now that we’re starting to close in on April, the pricing details for both of those Gears have begun to trickle out.

Samsung Taiwan today announced that the Gear 2 will be priced at NT$8,990 ($293 USD) when it launches there next month. Meanwhile, the more fitness-focused Gear Fit will carry a price tag of NT$5,990 ($195 USD).

While these prices for the Gear 2 and Gear Fit are only official for Taiwan, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the two devices with similar price tags when they arrive in other parts of the globe. The original Galaxy Gear was priced at $299 when it launched last year, and because the Gear 2 is the successor to the OG Gear and the Gear Fit is slightly lower-end, Samsung’s prices for those two new wearables makes sense.

What do you think of Samsung’s prices for the Gear 2 and Gear Fit? Do you plan on picking one up when they arrive in your neck of the woods?
