LG’s new TONE Platinum SE and Ultra SE headphones feature Google Assistant and Translate

Getting Google Assistant built into a range of products isn’t a difficult proposition anymore, and one of the devices that Assistant makes the most sense on is headphones.

This week, LG is officially unveiling a pair of new options under the company’s TONE brand. The two new models are the TONE Platinum SE and Ultra SE, both of which feature a button that will call up Google Assistant and feature a neckbud design. What’s more, both headphones also offer support for Google Translate, which was one of the major features for Google’s Pixel Buds last year.

The Life’s Good crew say the new LG TONE headphones feature “a hybrid unit consisting of a balanced armature and a dynamic driver”, which is a combination that is usually only found with in-ear headphones used by musicians. The design should mean that owners should hear clear, high-frequency sound and “robust bass”.

Meanwhile, the major difference in the Ultra SE variant is the inclusion of an external mono speaker along with the earbuds. So if you are in a place where blocking out the sounds around you might not be ideal, you can use that external speaker to play music or interact with Google Assistant.

Both variants will be available in blue, gold, and black. Unfortunately, LG isn’t ready to go into detail when it comes to a launch date or pricing for either option.

What do you think of the TONE Platinum SE and Ultra SE headphones?
