Google Assistant can now tell you something good when prompted
One of the strongest features of Google Assistant is the ability to quickly obtain information, whether it’s sports scores, the news in general, or a variety of other options. And now the digital assistant will go out of its way to find something good to tell you, too.
Google is unveiling a brand new prompt for Google Assistant, which is actually still in the experimental stages. Just say, “Hey Google, tell me something good”, and the Assistant will pull up stories that involve people who are solving real world issues. Google says this is a “crucial part of a balanced media diet”.
The experimental feature is only available in the United States to start. One example of the types of stories that will be surfaced with this specific prompt, Google offers up how backyard beekeepers in East Detroit were able to revitalize the bee population while also stimulating the economy in the area.
Google is teaming up with the nonpartisan, nonprofit Solutions Journalism Network to surface these stories. Google sees this new prompt as a means to help boost some good news into an Assistant user’s daily routine. The feature should already be available beginning today.
