HTC U12 allegedly caught on camera at industry 5G event

5G is the next big thing for wireless carriers, but smartphone manufacturers also need to jump on the bandwagon to make the network upgrades worthwhile for customers. As such, it’s not too surprising to see companies like HTC appearing at industry events focused on 5G network technologies and even bringing handsets along for the ride. Apparently what HTC did just that recently in Taiwan, and it apparently brought with it an unannounced handset.

The smartphone was caught on camera, but its key details have been obscured so HTC doesn’t show off too much. According to Evan Blass, this handset is the upcoming HTC U12, which is codenamed “Imagine”. There isn’t a lot to take away from the images of the smartphone, other than it appears to have a display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, right in line with other Android smartphones on the market already.

The rumor mill has been quiet about HTC’s upcoming flagship smartphone, so there isn’t a lot to go on right now. The HTC U11 was announced in May of last year, which probably means we’ve got a few months before HTC officially announces the U12. When it does arrive, the HTC U12 will more than likely boast flagship-level specs, including a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, plenty of built-in storage, and a display with a QHD resolution.

Until then, we can look at these images and let our imaginations run.
