Google says 11 phones will support Daydream VR by end of 2017
Last we heard on the Google Daydream VR front, the company promised that the Samsung Galaxy S8 would fully support its virtual reality platform. Now Google’s Sundar Pichai has said that even more phones will support Daydream.
During Alphabet’s earnings call, Pichai said that 11 phones will support Daydream before the end of the year. That means we should see at least a couple of new additions the next several months.
We know that Google is working on followups to the Pixel lineup, so it’s a safe assumption that those handsets will support the Daydream platform. As it stands right now, the aforementioned Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are getting a software update to support Daydream, while the ASUS ZenFone AR, ZTE Axon 7, Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9, Motorola’s Moto Z, and Pixel/Pixel XL already support the platform.
It will be interesting to see which new devices get the Daydream stamp of approval before the end of the year. How often do you use your Daydream headset? Is it something you still use on a frequent basis?
