Ass Hunter removed from Google Play after a slew of complaints

Google not inspecting every game and application released onto Google Play does have its benefits. We get game releases and updates quicker on a daily basis and games that normally wouldn't be approved for Apple become available on Google Play. It seems that one game, which has numerous Flash versions on the internet, as made its way onto Android but as of today has been pulled from Google Play.

The game in question is Ass Hunter which was obviously made out of a more humor-based mentality but due to the nature of the game, it has offended pretty much everyone. Essentially you play as a hunter who is hunting down naked gay men that are chasing him and, if caught, molest him. This game has been around in a Flash version since 2002 but was released onto Android this year. What followed after the game's release was a ton of complaints from offended people and now Google has removed the game from the Google Play store.

If Google had checked the game out before it was released, it would have seen that it violated two content policies that are in place:

  • Hate Speech: We don't allow content advocating against groups of people based on their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity.
  • Violence and Bullying: Depictions of gratuitous violence are not allowed. Apps should not contain materials that threaten, harass or bully other users

If you fail to shoot the naked gay men chasing you, they will leap onto your character and a cloud of dust appears in what is probably your character getting assaulted by said naked gay men.

What's a bit more surprising is that before the game was pulled, it had roughly 10,000 downloads and numerous 5-star ratings.
