Defend the Kingdom From Orcs and Vikings with Tower Bruiser

towerbruiser

It’s late Saturday evening, you’ve written a bunch of articles for the day, and you’re winding down while getting ready to call it a night—OK, well maybe only two of those three items apply to you. In any case, rather than simply vegging out in front of the boobtube, you decide to load up a quick, yet entertaining game on your mobile device. You’re sick of Flappy Bird, 2048, and all their clones, so what do you pick out? A good, old fashioned Tower Defense game, of course!

Tower Defense (TD) games have been a staple on Android (as well as gaming as a whole) for quite some time. On Android, there are dozens of great options, and perhaps the most famous over the years is Robo Defense. However Robo Defense, which was originally released back in 2009, is now ancient by mobile technology standards. And as such, it no longer has nearly the same visual appeal that it once had back in the era of the G1.

Luckily, there are plenty of newer, more attractive TD gaming options that hold true to the core mechanics of a good TD game. Tower Bruiser, developed by XDA Forum Member smarttties, is one such option. Tower Bruiser is medieval/fantasy-themed, and much like any other good TD game, your goal is to set up defensive towers to prevent an onslaught of ever strengthening forces of angry Vikings and Orcs. Luckily, you have a fleet of towers that are able to use Magic, Fire, Archery, and Artillery to defend your home.

In addition to getting the core gameplay mechanics right, smarttties also managed to make Tower Bruiser a very aesthetically appealing game. But rather than using a pre-built game engine such as Unity3D, the developer wrote his own over the course of two years. With all of that painstaking work, we can honestly say that the results show, as Tower Bruiser is both well optimized and a pleasure to look at.

Head over to the game thread to defend your land from the horde!
