Browse Every New AOSP Code Commit in Android 4.4.3

Ever since Android 4.4.1 was released back in December of last year, the fine folks over at FunkyAndroid have made a habit of listing every code commit introduced with new versions of Android. We’ve seen this for Android 4.4.1, 4.4.2, and 4.4.2_r2. Now, they’ve gone ahead and performed the deed once again by giving us a complete developer changelog for yesterday’s release of Android 4.4.3 KTU84L. As always, this service is of course made possible thanks to an open source script released by none other than former AOSP lead JBQ.

Due to AOSP code commits, many of us were expecting Android 4.4.3 to bring quite a few changes that would hinder root application development by curtailing the ability to write to /system partition outside of the recovery context and the inclusion of ART as the default runtime compiler. But as we know now, neither of these changes have been merged into shipping versions of Android just yet.

Although the root headaches have been averted this time around, there are still quite a few changes that managed to make their way into Android 4.4.3–much more than a simple x.x.1 release would indicate. In fact, there are over 7000 merges in this release, though many of them are Chromium merges. This includes a highly modified dialer, a bunch of Bluetooth fixes, and much more.

In addition to the AOSP code commits, Nexus devices will likely see various device-specific fixes and enhancements that will be due to device-specific closed source blob changes. According to XDA Forum Member Akr706, this includes noticeable WiFi and camera improvements on the Nexus 5. However, the dreaded mm-qcamera-daemon issue is still present.
