OnePlus One camera features revealed, including 13-megapixel sensor

Time to add another item to the list of known OnePlus One features. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has announced that his company’s new smartphone will feature a 13-megapixel camera, complete with a Sony-made Exmor IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 6 lenses to help combat the distorted edges that can occasionally appear on photos taken with low-aperture cameras. Lau also said that the unit will include Image Stabilization Plus technology, which takes advantage of other components inside the OnePlus One to crunch 120 algorithms and produce sharper images.

On the video side of things, the OnePlus One’s shooter will be capable of capturing 4K video. Those folks that prefer slow motion video will be pleased to learn that OnePlus is also throwing in support for 120fps video capture at a 720p resolution.

The OnePlus One will also sport a camera on its face, which isn’t a shock considering how selfie-obsessed consumers have become as of late. The One’s front-facing shooter is of the 5-megapixel variety.

Obviously we’ll have to put the OnePlus One’s cameras to the test ourselves before we make any final judgments about their performance, but on paper it sounds like OnePlus has equipped its handset with some nice shooters. Support for 4K video capture isn’t a feature that we see on every single smartphone, making it a welcome addition here, and OnePlus’s decision to include some image stabilization tech was a smart one.

How do you think the OnePlus One is shaping up? Are you interested in checking one out when it lands in the second quarter?
