Google and Microsoft agree to drop complaints to regulators

Truce? Truce.

Google and Microsoft have both made announcements today that the two will be dropping all current complaints to regulators between the companies, and will seek to avoid further regulatory complaints by working to solve issues together. This news follows last year’s announcement that Google and Microsoft will stop pursuing patent litigation against each other.

While Microsoft has denied any connection, this news comes interestingly timed as European regulators have just started pursuing complaints against Android for what it calls unfair practices. Microsoft is not taking a stance on the issue, but did drop its membership with FairSearch and ICOMP, two groups linked to regulatory issues with Google’s search business.

This is not expected to change either company’s business practices.
