T-Mobile CEO John Legere predicts strong growth in 2015, including passing Sprint
The year 2014 was a big one for T-Mobile, and if its CEO has his way, then 2015 is going to be even bigger for the little carrier that could.
In T-Mobile’s official newsroom, T-Mobile CEO John Legere has penned his predictions for 2015 and outlined what he believes will be a massive success story for the carrier as a whole, including not only some massive expansion across the United States but also passing another rival carrier in the process.
As it stands right now, T-Mobile covers 264 million Americans with its LTE network. Legere predicts that T-Mobile will buffer that number by a few more million, covering 300 million Americans in 2015. Narrowing the focus of that expansion to the LTE network itself and the enhancements that T-Mobile has implemented, Legere says that the 700MHz spectrum the carrier utilizes will be deployed to active users in 350 metro areas. Meanwhile, T-Mobile’s Wideband LTE will reach “more than 150 metro areas.”
Perhaps the most boastful thing that Legere predicts is the passing of Sprint in 2015. Interestingly enough, Legere actually made this claim already, saying that T-Mobile would pass Sprint in 2014. Considering both wireless carriers still need to divulge their fourth quarter earnings, that’s still a possibility. However, Legere says that T-Mobile will definitely pass Sprint in 2015, so it would seem likely that the numbers will show that T-Mobile hadn’t pulled it off this year.
Are you expecting big things from T-Mobile in 2015?
