Huawei’s smartphone sales rose by 40 percent in 2014

Huawei is a company that has big plans, and it has its sights aimed directly at the U.S. market. While the company has yet to release a single breakthrough device, it’s making great progress. An internal memo has revealed that Huawei’s smartphone sales at the company are up 45 percent year-over-year. Check out the contents of the memo below, sent by Richard Yu, Head of Conosumer Business at Huawei:

The division shipped about 75 million smartphones in 2014, according to the year-end memo to employees sent by Richard Yu, the head of Huawei's consumer business. Although that represented a more than 40 percent year-on-year increase, the figure lagged behind Huawei's previously stated sales target of 80 million units.Richard YuHuawei

While Huawei didn’t quite reach its goal for the year, it came very close and still managed to increase smartphone sales dramatically. This is a good sign for the ascending company that has worked hard to gain traction by releasing affordable, interesting devices like the Ascend Mate2 4G and the Mate 7. If the company keeps advancing, it has a good shot at making serious inroads into tough markets like the U.S.

Have you ever used a Huawei device? What did you think of it?
