[Deal Alert] The LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet Is On Sale For $225 ($125 Off Retail) At Newegg
LG went a long time between tablets, but when they returned to the market with the G Pad 8.3 last year, they did so in style. This metal-clad tablet didn't have the latest and greatest processor, but it made up for it with a sleek mid-sized design, 2GB of RAM, and extras like a MicroSD card slot. LG has since transitioned to more budget-oriented models (not unlike Samsung's main Galaxy Tab series), but you can pick up the original for $224.90 at Newegg today.
That price is technically $125 off of the retail value, though Amazon and other stores have new tablets going for significantly less. Even so, the G Pad 8.3 is right in my personal sweet spot for tablet size, nicely in between the Nexus 7 and slightly unwieldy 10" tablets, with an appropriate 1920x1200 resolution. Newer tablets, particularly those from Samsung, have it beaten in terms of raw specs, but the 16GB version is still a pretty good deal for around the same price as the Nexus 7 2013. Those who don't like LG's Android skin can flash CyanogenMod - the bootloader isn't locked. (LG's version of Android was Cameron's biggest gripe in our G Pad 8.3 review.) Or you can hunt for the Google Play Edition, which is getting harder to find since it disappeared from the Play Store.
Newegg's deal isn't time limited, and you can get free shipping if you're willing to wait on the Super Eggsaver option (4-7 business days). These tablets are new, not refurbished, though it looks like Newegg isn't stocking the white model. You can have any color you want, so long as you want black.
