Huawei Honor View 20 features 48-megapixel rear camera, hole-punch front camera

Get ready for hole-punch cameras to take the place of display notches. The newest design trend is about to hit the market and Huawei is already delving in with the Honor View 20, which it teased at an event in Hong Kong, where the device will be called the Honor V20. The hole-punch front camera design is being dubbed as an All-View display, and features only a 4.5mm circular cutout for the front camera which is surrounded by screen. The top features a minimal bezel, though the bottom bezel is substantially larger.

Beyond its design, the Honor View 20 is also set to break barriers with its rear camera. Huawei is using a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 CMOS sensor that features a pixel size of 0.8μm. This camera will feature Huawei’s AI HDR, all but ensuring that this device will take some of the best photos possible from a smartphone. Plus, when photos are taken in the dark, Huawei’s software will use pixel-binning to combine four 0.8μm pixels into a 1.6μm pixel, equivalent to a 12-megapixel camera, allowing for better absorption of light.

Most of the specs are being kept under wraps, but Huawei has confirmed that the Honor View 20 will use its Kirin 980 processor. Additionally, the device will utilize Link Turbo, which allows for simultaneous downloading over WiFi and 4G, as well as automatic switching between networks for the fastest possible connection.

Huawei is set to officially launch the Honor View 20 on December 26 in Beijing, with a European launch in Paris slated for January 2019.
