Google Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL designs put on display in new renders

For each generation of Pixel phones, Google has offered a regular model and an XL variant. Now it looks like that may be true for the rumored Pixel 3 Lite as well.

New renders claim to show both the Google Pixel 3 Lite that leaked out last month as well as a Pixel 3 Lite XL model. The renders are based on factory CADs and come to us from OnLeaks and 91mobiles, and they show all of the changes that Google will make to these Lite versions to help get their prices lower than their non-Lite counterparts.

One of the first big changes for these Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL phones is that they have a single front camera rather than the dual front camera setup found on the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. There’s only one speaker on the Lite phones, too, and Google is said to have swapped the glass backs on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL for polycarbonate on the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL. Google appears to have slightly thickened the side bezels on the Lite phones, too, and the Pixel 3 Lite XL doesn’t have the notch that’s found on its non-Lite counterpart.

One other big difference with these Lite phones is something that hasn’t been taken away, but added instead. While the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL only have a USB-C port for audio, these Lite versions have a 3.5mm headphone jack up top, expanding the headphone options for users.

Google is rumored to be making some spec changes with the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL as well. Both phones are said to have a Snapdragon 670 processor rather than the Snapdragon 845 found in the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and we’ve been told to expect only 32GB of storage. Other rumored specs of these phones include 12MP rear and 8MP front cameras, 4GB of RAM, and a 5.5-inch display for the Pixel 3 Lite while the Pixel 3 Lite XL gets a 6-inch screen, which would be smaller than the 6.3-inch display found on the Pixel 3 XL.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL aren’t cheap, starting at $799 and $899, respectively, so it’ll be interesting to see how low Google can get the prices of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL with the changes we’ve heard about. There’s no word yet on when these phones might be released or where they’ll be available, but hopefully we’ll hear more soon.

What do you think of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL? Do the rumored changes have you more interested in them than the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL?
