Amazon Echo Input lets you add Alexa to existing speakers, Amazon Smart Plug also introduced

Amazon unveiled a bunch of new smart speakers today, but what if you’ve got an existing speaker setup that you really like? Amazon’s got you covered.

The Amazon Echo Input is a small disc that you connect to an existing speaker via 3.5mm audio cable or Bluetooth. There’s no speaker here, so the Echo Input is just 12.5mm tall. In addition to controlling music, you can use the Echo Input for other Alexa tasks, like asking a question or controlling your smart home. The Echo Input will launch soon for $34.99.

Next is the Echo Link. This Alexa-enabled device can connect to your high-fidelity stereo system, offering analog, optical, coax, 3.5mm, and subwoofer line-outs as well as analog, optical, and coax line-ins. There’s a volume knob for more granular controll, too, as well as an ethernet port and support for multi-room Alexa audio. The Echo Link will cost $199.99.

Amazon’s also got the Echo Link Amp, a step-up version of the Echo Link. This model adds a built-in 60W, 2-channel amplifier as well as left-right speaker binding post outputs for wiring directly to passive and non-powered speakers. The Echo Link Amp will be priced at $299.99.

Finally, the Amazon Smart Plug will let you add Alexa voice controls to any outlet. This means that you’ll be able to control lights, fans, and appliances remotely, schedule them, and more. There’s no smart home hub required to use the Amazon Smart Plug, which is now available for pre-order for $24.99 ahead of its October 11th release.
