You can now start a Google Duo call with Assistant

Duo is Google’s video calling app, and now the company is making it a bit easier to kick off a call with the help of Assistant.

As first noted by Android Police, Google is quietly rolling out the ability to start a Duo video call just by asking Assistant. It even works on iOS devices with Google Assistant and Duo installed, so this is a broad rollout. It’s unknown exactly how long this feature has been live, but it appears to not be available for everyone just yet.

You simply need to tell Assistant to “video call” one of your contacts, and the Assistant will automatically launch Google Duo. If you don’t have Duo installed, Assistant will activate Hangouts.

The feature is rolling out now, so if this is something you’ve been waiting for, give it a try and let us know in the comments if it works.

How often do you use Google Duo?
