LG Pay to launch in the U.S. in June

LG officially announced its own mobile payment service back in 2015, unveiling LG Pay as the newest option in an already crowded market. The Life’s Good company rolled out LG Pay in South Korea back in June of last year, and now it looks like they are finally ready to finally launch the service in the United States.

According to a report from Yonhap News, LG has confirmed that it will launch LG Pay by June and added that the mobile payment option will arrive alongside the launch of its next flagship smartphone.

Interestingly enough, the report name drops the LG G7, which is indicated as being the followup to last year’s G6. That stands out because it has already been reported that LG is planning on rebranding its G-series smartphone lineup, and it was expected to begin with a new name for whatever the G7 smartphone is. The LG V40 is also thrown in there, but of course LG hasn’t officially announced that phone, either.

LG Pay works similarly to Samsung Pay. That means you will be able to use LG Pay at just about any terminal because it uses Wireless Magnetic Communication. That could help LG get a foothold on some of the competition because it won’t be limited to just terminals that accept NFC payments like Google Pay.

Will you use LG Pay when it arrives in the U.S.?
