LG teases V30 software features, including Floating Bar for frequently used actions

After teasing hardware features like its display and camera, LG has now dropped a teaser for the V30’s software.

LG says that the V30 will come with Floating Bar, which is says is an evolution of the Second Screen feature found on previous V series phones. Floating Bar is a transparent on-screen bar that offers quick access to frequently used features. When you’re not using it, you can drag the Floating Bar off screen.

Another display feature of the LG V30 is Always-on Display. This is improved from previous LG iterations because not only can it show the time, but also Quick Tools, Music Player, and a photograph that you’ve taken.

LG is also equipping the V30 with Face Recognition, a security feature that uses the V30’s front-facing camera to let you unlock your phone with your face. This feature works even if the phone’s display is off. LG is touting the V30’s Voice Recognition feature, too, which uses Qualcomm’s Aqstic low-power voice tech, your voice, and self-generated keywords.

LG is focusing on camera features with its new UX 6.0+, too, which makes sense considering the focus that LG is placing on the V30’s camera hardware. Included with the LG V30’s manual mode is Graphy, which lets you view and download professional photos and apply the metadata presets like white balance, shutter speed, and ISO to photos taken with the V30.

Other camera features of the LG V30 include grid shot, snap shot, and match shot modes, GIF creation, and the ability to create movies using photos or video files.

Finally, LG touts that the haptic feedback on the V30 can be customized, including combinations of vibrations that can be matched to the ringtone.

While previous rumors and teasers have suggested that the LG V30 will ditch the second screen found on previous models, this latest teaser seems to just about seal it. A semi-transparent Floating Bar could be a good substitution for the second screen because it can be hidden when it’s not needed but still give shortcuts to actions when the user wants it.

The LG V30 will make its official debut on August 31st.
