Google Pixel, Pixel XL 2 renders surface revealing no headphone jack

Factory CADs, which are generally put together based on specifications provided by accessory makers, are becoming a common way to imagine what an unannounced device will look like, long before the manufacturer gets around to revealing their next big thing. This includes the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

Today we’re getting a pretty clear look at what both the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 could look like thanks to renders from @OnLeaks and MySmartPrice. The designs are pretty reminiscent from last year’s models, with the rounded edges and a glass panel on the back. However, that glass panel takes up less room when compared to the first generation Pixel.

One other important change? These renders don’t include a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top of the handset. It’s not there on the bottom, either. That either means the handsets won’t feature the jack at all, or these renders are just missing it. It might be time to start contemplating if you’re ready to give up the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Otherwise, we can see a handset that also features a tall display, and it’s likely that it’ll have an 18:9 aspect ratio, similar to what we saw on the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8. It’s rumored that LG is manufacturing both the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

Before these renders surfaced, we’d heard that the next generation Pixel smartphones will be the first to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 processor and that the Pixel XL could boast a higher price tag than last year’s flagship. Meanwhile, Google’s Rick Osterloh has already confirmed the Pixel 2 is arriving this year, so we definitely have something to look forward to.

If the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 don’t have 3.5mm headphone jacks, will you still buy one?
