Archeer 25W Super Bass Bluetooth speaker review

This one is for the bassheads out there. If there is one thing that most Bluetooth speakers lack, it’s bass. I’m not talking about low-end rumble, I’m talking about actual impact. Bass usually requires enclosure size, and portable speakers lack this. However, there are exceptions.

Details

Price: $69.99
Battery: 5,200mAh, 11 hours
Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5mm aux
Dimensions: 9.8 x 3.1 x 5.2 inches
Weight: 3.1 lbs
Where to buy: Amazon

The front of the Archeer 25W speaker features two tweeters and a woofer amidst a slab of real bamboo. Unfortunately, there are no speaker grills to protect the drivers.

On the top there are four buttons embedded in the fabric. The volume buttons can skip tracks when held. There is no pair button, which would have been a nice addition. The buttons feel great, being easy to press and clicking nicely. In the middle of the buttons is an LED indicator.

On the back is a small panel with a microUSB port, an aux jack, a reset button, and a charging indicator. The separate LED for charging is a mystery, and the omission of USB Type-C is a small deal but worth mentioning. Below this panel is a big bass port.

Build quality

Being made out of bamboo and fabric, the speaker definitely feels very premium. The bamboo on the front is especially nice. It’s well put together with no creaking and very little bending. It’s also heavy for its size, which is a good thing in my eyes.

The top has a bit of a bulge on my unit where the fabric section sits a bit higher than the bamboo in the center. As this part is very rigid, I don’t see it being a problem in the future durability of the speaker, but it is an imperfection.

I wish there were some rubber feet at the bottom, because the speaker slides on smooth surfaces.

Sound quality

If you’re looking for some real bass, this speaker is for you. The bass is phenomenal; you can actually feel it pound in your chest, which is very rare in a Bluetooth speaker. Put it on a shelf or in an enclosed area and it just gets stronger. Put your hand near the bass port and it pushes a shocking amount of air.

That doesn’t mean that the rest of the sound suffers. The mids and highs sound great. While not a flat sound signature, the overall sound is powerful and detailed. The highs aren’t excessively sparkly, and the mids are reasonably good. The mids tend to get a bit drowned out by the lows in music like rock and metal, but those genres still sound good.

The volume can get impressively loud. You can fill a room easily, and you won’t be able to hold normal conversation without yelling. Even at high volumes, it remains clear. This is a fantastic party speaker. I’m genuinely shocked by the volume and power. Even outdoors it’s plenty loud.

Unfortunately, the bass can be overwhelming for some detailed music. You’ll hear some rumbling in the lower mids of metal and rock. It doesn’t sound ideal, but this comes with the territory of boosted bass.

If you pick one up, play with location and positioning. You’ll be surprised how much the sound can change depending on where it’s placed.

Battery life

The Archeer 25W features a 5,200mAh battery that’s estimated to last 11 hours at medium volumes. From my testing, it can last a bit longer. It lived through a 10-hour barbecue at a pretty high volume with ease, with the event ending at sunset with the speaker still playing when I got home. At high volumes, battery life doesn’t suffer. Considering the volume and output, this is very impressive.

Unfortunately, it won’t show the battery level in the status bar like some Bluetooth devices do.

The Archeer A320 is an absolutely phenomenal Bluetooth speaker. It punches way above its price point with good battery life, fantastic sound, and surprisingly powerful bass. It also looks good to boot, matching both traditional and modern decor.

If you like bass, or just powerful sound, pick one up. It’s seriously amazing.
