Google Play Books Again Able To Upload PDF/EPUB Files On The Go With New Update

Last December, Google Play Books saw an update that allowed users to upload PDF and EPUB files to their libraries from their mobile device (by way of Gmail attachments or downloads). A subsequent update to version 3.1.23, however, removed the ability to add PDFs. At the time, Google confirmed to us that the functionality was removed because it was "experimental," but we were told it would return at some point in the future.

It seems that point has come, as an update to Google Play Books has begun rolling out which brings back the ability to add PDF files from your mobile device, while also moving around some navigation options and of course fixing some bugs. Here's the full change log.

What's New

* Upload PDF or EPUB files to your library. Enable PDF support in Settings, then touch a file in email or Downloads and choose Upload to Play Books.

* Settings and Help have moved to the main navigation menu.

* Performance improvements and bug fixes, including a fix to prevent the screen from sleeping while the app is reading aloud.

As the change log points out, users will need to enable PDF support in Settings before they'll be able to add PDFs from their phone or tablet. If you haven't already, check your devices for the update.
