Update: Verizon updating Motorola Droid Turbo 2 to Marshmallow

Verizon Droid Turbo 2 users, your time has come, because Verizon has finally decided to start rolling out the upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Turbo 2. Better late than never, but still later than Motorola’s own update for the Moto X Pure Edition.

The update to Marshmallow might not seem so significant when you first start using it, but trust us, it’s big. There are a ton of new features that subtly make the user experience a lot better. Battery life is better thanks to Doze mode, security is improved due to customizable app permissions, Do Not Disturb is more advanced than Motorola’s previous version of the same feature, and Now on Tap might be useful to some. Here’s Verizon’s list of changes:

  • Now on Tap
  • Doze Mode
  • App Standby
  • App Permissions
  • App Links
  • Expandable Storage
  • Do Not Disturb
  • Volume Controls
  • Direct Share
  • Moto Display and Ambient Display
  • Moto Assist
  • Attentive Display

If you own the device, check for the update in Settings and hope you’ll get it now! If not, you’ll have to wait for the rollout to reach you. Let us know how the update goes!

Update: It looks like Verizon has pulled the update page. Hopefully the update is still rolling out, but we’ll have to wait for more info.
