HTC One M8s is the latest member of HTC’s One family
The HTC One M9 has caught some flak for looking similar to last year’s One M8, but HTC’s newest smartphone looks even more like the One M8 than the M9 does. Heck, even its name has “One M8” in it.
The HTC One M8s was announced this morning as a new variant of HTC’s flagship from 2014, the One M8. As you can tell from the image above, the One M8s looks quite a bit like the One M8, and the similarities don’t stop at their looks. The One M8s has a 5-inch 1920×1080 display and 5-megapixel camera on its face, a Duo Camera setup on its rear, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD card slot.
By now you’re probably wondering what makes these two phones different. There are actually a few notable changes with the One M8s, like its octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, which is a switch from the One M8’s quad-core Snapdragon 801 chip. The One M8s also has a 2840mAh battery that’s slightly larger than the One M8’s 2600mAh battery. Finally, while the One M8s has a depth-sensing Duo Camera like the One M8, the One M8s’s uses a 13-megapixel sensor rather than the UltraPixel sensor found on the One M8.
HTC says that the One M8s will be released throughout Europe, and in the U.K. it’ll cost £379.99. The device sits somewhere in between the mid-range and the high-end, and it lets HTC offer shoppers a device that’s got a premium build quality like the One M9 on a device that’s easier on the wallet than HTC’s new flagship.
