Pixwing is a rather cool looking game coming from a developer named Dominik Zielinski who you may not know by name, but you do know the games he has worked on. We say this because Dominik is actually one of the developers over at 11-bit Studios, the company behind the Anomaly franchise. Dominik is still working for 11-bit Studios but when he's not working on games for them, he is working on side projects like the one we are reporting on today called Pixwing.

So what is Pixwing? This is a game filled with geometric 3D shapes and pixel art, two things that go hand-in-hand together quite well when done correctly. The game itself is an aerial combat game of sorts, where players assume control over a Red Baron style of plane, fly around a rather trippy looking world, and shoot down enemy planes as you come across them. Along the way you will also want to keep an eye out for anything strange looking as there are plenty of secret items to find.

In regards to controlling your plane, the controls are gyro-based which means that you will be tilting your Android device of choice whilst you fly around. You won't be stuck with the one plane you start with either as additional planes will be available for purchase in-game from the money you earn. While the planes will look different, there has been no details mentioned as to whether they will have different stats, although that would be a safe bet.

It looks like there will be two game modes to play in Pixwing. The first is a Trails type of mode, which means there will be challenges you need to complete and more than likely in a certain time frame. However, if grinding the hell out of levels in order to complete them isn't your thing, Pixwing will also have a free-roam mode where you can just fly around, explore, and shoot enemies down at your pleasure.

So when does Pixwing get released? Well right now it is still in development so there is no release time frame announced right now. When more details are released, we will post an update.
