Updated Documentation for Android Lollipop Now Available

Still waiting for the Android Lollipop sources to be pushed completely? Those who can’t wait for the full release want to take a look at the updated developer documentation for Android Lollipop.

A new thread was created on the Android Building Google Group to let all AOSP builders know about the new documentation accompanying the Android 5.0 release. A quick list of the changes is offered below for your convenience:

• Audio: documentation for Attributes and USB digital audio has been added. Additionally, you can now find a Wired audio headset specification for accessories.
• Security: the Encryption and SELinux pages have been updated to reflect the changes in Android 5.0, such as encryption being turned on by default and SELinux changes. This includes detailed implementation instructions and examples of customization. The Security Enhancements pages have also been updated, offering a list of improvements for each Android release and acknowledgements.
• Sensors: the sensors documentation has received a complete overhaul. New sensors (e.g. interaction composite sensors) are now catalogued along with usage descriptions. Power consumption and the HAL interface are now covered separately and in details.
• TV: Android now supports televisions, thanks to the TV Input Framework and HDMI-CEC control service for content delivery and device interaction. The TV Audio page also describes audio routing through televisions.
• Camera: versioning for the camera has been added, offering logistical details for OEMs and SoC vendors.
• The documentation for the Hardware Abstraction Layer has also been updated for Android 5.0.
