Android Oreo now making its way to Sprint Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, AT&T Galaxy S7 active

There may be a lot of focus on Android P lately, but there are still several phones out there that are waiting for their update to Oreo. Today three more devices are getting that update.

Sprint is now updating its Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to Android 8.0 Oreo. The GS7 is moving to version G930PVPU6CRE7 while the GS7 edge is being updated to version G935PVPU6CRE7.

Also being updated is AT&T’s Galaxy S7 active. The update is 1.5GB in size and is version G891AUCU3CRE7. In additoni to the update to Oreo, the GS7 active is getting the April 2017 Android security patches, FirstNet IOC2 (related to emergency first responders), and Mobile Hotspot APN support.

It definitely took awhile for these phones to get their Oreo update, but it’s good to see that Android 8.0 is finally making its way to these phones. There are a lot of new features to play with in Oreo, including autofill, notification dots, and picture-in-picture, so if you’ve got a Sprint Galaxy S7 or S7 edge or an AT&T Galaxy S7 active, be on the lookout for your update over the coming days!
