[APK] Google Issues Updates to Chrome Beta, Drive, Hangouts, My Tracks, and Translate

We’re now halfway to Friday, and you know what that means. Just as we’ve grown to expect on Wednesdays, we’ve got our hands on quite a few first party Google application updates. Today’s updates come in the form of primarily bugfix updates to quite a few of Google’s first party Android apps–namely, Chrome Beta, Hangouts, Drive, My Tracks, and Chrome Beta–as well as a dogfood version of Translate.

First up, we have Chrome Beta, which actually received its update late last night. This release brings the app up to version 36.0.1985.81 (up from last month’s 36.0.1985.36). This update brings fixes for quite a few bugs including problems with the built-in translation functionality, as well as a few less noticeable issues. The full list of changes can be found on the Chromium SVN revision log.

After the Chrome Beta update late last night, we then received app updates to Google Drive, Hangouts, and My Tracks. The Drive update brings the app to version 1.3.222.29 (from last month’s update to 1.3.144.26), and according to the Play Store listing, it brings performance enchancements and bugfixes. Hangouts is now at 2.1.311 (up from last week’s update to 2.1.224s), with no visible changes that we’ve noticed thus far. My Tracks is now at 2.0.7, and has changed the way it interacts with Google Maps by allowing you to export to Google Maps Engine, instead of the previous export to Google Fusion Tables and Google Maps. Additionally, though this may be simply a coincidence, GPS tracking seems to be more robust on my personal Nexus 5 with smoother Maps tracking as I took the updated app for a test run earlier today.

Last but certainly not least, we have the dogfood version of Google Translate 3.0.8. You may recall that a few months ago, a dogfood version of the YouTube app mistakenly made its way out of Google’s test labs and onto the Play Store. The same has now happened with Translate 3.0.8, which features a cute app icon and playful swap translation direction button. We’ve not noticed any hidden functionality that is now available in this dogfood version, but please let us know in the comments if you see anything we’ve missed!

All of these app updates will make their way out to consumer devices through the Play Store via a staged rollout. Naturally, not every device will be in initial wave. However, we’ve gone ahead and mirrored the APKs over on our DevHost account for your sideloading pleasure:

[Many thanks to XDA Portal Supporter MihirGosai for the APKs!]
