Moto X goes on a temporary price cut once again

Juan Carlos Torres

Motorola fans probably just can't get enough of Moto X sales. For only 24 hours, the now Lenovo-owned smartphone maker will be offering various models of the device on discount, probably in lieu of an upcoming new flagship.

The sale starts on May 1 at 12:01 AM eastern and will last for only 24 hours. During that time, the 16 GB will be sold for only $299.99, down from $349.99, the 32 GB for $324.99 instead of $399.99 and the Developer Edition will have a price tag of $324.99 from the high price of $449.99. The Moto X remains an interesting and well-rounded device, so those who still have their eyes on this smartphone should probably take this chance to get their hands on one.

That said, this sale, more than previous ones, probably signals the end of this current generation. By August, the Moto X would have had enjoyed a good year of life. All eyes, however, will now be on Motorola's next flagship. Now that the manufacturer is under new owners, the mobile industry will be watching closely how Lenovo will steer the ship when it comes to designing the next Motorola smartphone.

If the Moto X still has the same amount of appeal it had late last year, then Motorola might once again be faced with a flood of buyers. Given how frail Motorola's servers were in the past when it comes to discount promos like this, we hope that this time the company has learned its lessons and comes better prepared.
