HTC One Mini on AT&T Now Receiving KitKat, Update Available for Rooted Devices

HTC-KitKat

Earlier today, we talked about how the Sony Xperia M was finally receiving its taste of the latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.3. While we lamented the fact that the device was just now being updated to a version of Android that is nearly a year old, we were happy to at least see the device receiving some OEM lovin’ even though it’s hardly the latest and/or greatest in Sony’s portfolio.

HTC, on the other hand, seems to be a bit better about releasing expedient updates for its product line. In fact, when they failed to meet their rather strict (and self-imposed) 3 month timetable, they issued a public apology and proceeded to quickly rectify the situation.

The international variant of the HTC One Mini first received its taste of official KitKat one month ago, and the update was promptly repackaged and released as a recovery-flashable update by XDA Senior Member tr1gg3r84. Then, devices in Asian markets also received the update goods, and they were quickly mirrored by XDA Forum Member faner. Now, they’ve spread the update love to the AT&T variant of their popular medium-sized HTC One Mini.

Today’s update for the AT&T variant comes in at software version 3.10.502.3, and it bumps up the Android version to 4.4.2. As expected, it’s layered with version 5.5 of HTC’s Sense UI. And for those wondering, the One Mini is slated to receive an update to Sense 6 in June or July.

The update appears to be available for all stock, unrooted devices at this time, so head over to your settings page and check for a firmware update. You can learn more about the update on AT&T’s blog post and support page.
