[GDC 2014] Qualcomm's new video shows us visuals made with Unreal Engine 4 on mobile devices

Published on Thursday, 20 March 2014 12:14

Qualcomm has released a new video showing how Epic is bringing high-end game graphics to mobile with the newest iteration of their Unreal Engine. Even though this is basically a demo reel showing off some rendered landscapes made with Unreal Engine 4, they are still impressive, especially when you take into account that these environments are on a mobile device.

This demo reel shows a variety of landscapes and environments made using Unreal Engine 4 but on mobile devices instead of a console or PC. However they looks like they came straight from one of those other platforms. There's no action sequences or gameplay in the video below but it does give us a taste of what to expect.

Hopefully developers pick up the pace with using Unreal Engine, especially UE4, for making mobile games for Android devices. Since this video is published by Qualcomm, we're assuming that all of this was rendered on a Snapdragon chipset.
