HTC 10 officially announced

After months of waiting, the HTC 10 has officially been announced. As it turns out, the leaked image and rumors we’ve been sharing with you over the last few months were spot on. The HTC 10 is wrapped in an aluminum unibody shell with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on the front and a 5.2-inch Quad HD Super LCD 5 display with a 30% improvement  in color accuracy and 50% improvement is touch responsiveness. The front-facing camera is equipped with an optical stabilized 5MP camera with an f/1.8 lens while the main camera on the back has a 12MP sensor, optical image stabilization f/1.8 lens, dual LED flash and laser auto focus. Powering the HTC 10 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage, microSD card slot (which likely supports adoptive storage) and a 3,000 mAh battery which HTC claims can last up to two days (under moderate use). Like most other phones, the HTC 10 comes with NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz). 

HTC has even taken its software to the next level by stripping out its own apps and replacing them with stock Google apps. The music player, calendar and gallery apps have been replaced with Google Play Music, Google Calendar and Google Photos. Sense is pretty much the same as it’s always been, but there are Freestyle Layouts which allow you to customize the home screen as much as you want, even using stickers instead of the traditional app icons.

The price of the HTC 10 for Europe has not been unveiled, but HTC is promising that the phone will start shipping before the end of April in select markets. US residents can pre-order the Unlocked, AT&T and T-Mobile HTC 10 from HTC’s site for $699 with an expected ship date of “early May.”
