Verizon LG G3 updated with VoLTE support

Verizon’s VoLTE network has been live for quite a while, but the amount of smartphones able to take advantage of it has been small. The Galaxy S5, LG G2, DROID MAXX, and Droid Mini were previously the only Android devices able to take advantage of Advanced Calling 1.0. But thankfully, another device has now been added to the list.

The LG G3 is now receiving a software update to enable Advanced Calling 1.0, which is basically making voice calls over data but not using your allotment of data. It counts as minutes instead of data, so you won’t burn through your cap making calls. Video calls can also be made through the native dialer, though that will use data.

Along with Advanced Calling, the update brings updated My Verizon and Softcard Wallet apps, along with updates to some system apps. An email sync issue has also been fixed. While it’s not a major update in terms of software, the addition of VoLTE support is pretty useful. Hopefully owners of the Verizon G3 will find it useful. Have you gotten the update?
