Sony Xperia Z2 Firmware Dumped for Your Porting Pleasure!

Capture

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past week, you’ve already heard about the newly announced Sony Xperia Z2. The Z2 improves upon last year’s flagship Xperia Z1 in basically every area that counts—including replacing the previous model’s dreadfully bad screen. As such, we’ve already given Sony’s latest and greatest a place here in our forums.

Those of you looking to experience some of the Xperia Z2 goodies a bit early are in luck, as XDA Recognized Developer DooMLoRD managed to snag and release a system dump from the device. The firmware comes in at revision 17.1.A.0.289, and it packs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, as well as Sony’s latest custom UI.

While obviously end users can’t really do anything with this firmware dump other than stare at the pretty numbers and letters in the device’s build.prop, this firmware dump will hopefully allow devs to begin the porting process and bring many of the Z2′s goodies to other Xperia devices.

If you want to begin porting efforts based on this dump, head over to the firmware thread and get your download on.
