Mediocre Games' Smash Hit is becoming a smash hit on Android already

Published on Friday, 07 March 2014 05:13

We've reported on this rather unique title from Mediocre Games a couple of times in the past but we didn't have a ton of information regarding it at that time. We just knew it was going to be minimalistic in style, have a great soundtrack, and that it would definitely be different from what Mediocre Games usually releases.

What we didn't expect was just how exactly cool this game is, even with it being completely outside the box for the company. See in Smash Hit you have a set amount of balls, although you can gain more if your have good aim. You use these balls to hit targets or generally break any glass barriers that happen to get in your way. Hitting targets will net you additional balls and honestly who doesn't like having a lot of balls?

Crudeness aside, Mediocre Games stuck true to their word of doing something different and minimalistic. The visuals are definitely cool looking with a definite glass feeling to them. They don't always completely break which means you have to have good aim. As you travel through the game in a first-person perspective, if you 'crash' into anything glass then you will loose some balls. When you've lost all your balls then it is game over.

There are over 50 different rooms with 11 different graphic styles, all of which has this cool and realistic glass-breaking mechanic. The musical is synchronized as are the audio effects which change to suit each stage with obstacles moving to each new tune. Best of all you can download the game off of Google Play for free. You can snag a premium version with additional perks like restarting from checkpoints and cloud saves for $1.99. Smash Hit is also available on TegraZone which means Tegra-based devices are treated to additional visual goodies.
