AMC announces The Walking Dead mobile game by Next Games, coming soon

Published on Friday, 07 March 2014 06:04

AMC has announced that their tension and zombie filled TV show The Walking Dead will finally be getting a mobile game in the near future. AMC has brought on a new game development studio called Next Games which is almost a sort of 'dream team' in a lot of ways. Founder in Helsinki, Finland on the later part of 2013, this company has been formed from veteran designers from companies such as Rovio, Supercell and Disney.

This means there is a very good chance that this Walking Dead game won't suck. Besides it has to live up to the TV Show and games based off of it on other platforms. So what can us mobile gamers expect with this new version of The Walking Dead game? Right now details are scarce but Next Games does state that this game will "match the against-all-odds action and moment-to-moment tension of the TV series".

The Walking Dead mobile game will be designed with smartphone and tablet gaming in mind which means it won't be a port or anything like that. Next Games is pretty confident about this new title as well, boasting that this will be something never before seen in The Walking Dead franchise.

We want to find that sweet spot where gameplay and narrative inform and reinforce one another. Like AMC’s The Walking Dead itself, we’re not giving away too many details right out the gate, but I can confidently state it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from The Walking Dead franchise on home or mobile gaming hardware before. - Teemu Huuhtanen, CEO at Next Games

The company is keeping most of the details hush hush right now including any sort of release time frame, only that it is coming in the near future. Next Games did promise additional details will be released in the coming months though which means we will be sure to update everyone.
