Welcome to the latest entry in our Bonus Round series, wherein we tell you all about the new Android games of the day that we couldn't get to during our regular news rounds. Mikey Shorts
Some games hint at their inspirations, subtly including game elements from classic titles. There's nothing subtle about Mikey Shorts: It's a Mario-style platformer and proud of it, dammit. Specifically it's based around the idea of the 'speed run' - technically it's a runner game, but the levels are carefully created (and they end), putting the focus more on precise timing and navigation than simply staying alive. Customizable virtual controls are also a big plus.

Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous
Mix a space shooter with a rolling marble game, and you might get something very similar to Tilt to Live. A combination of unique game elements and quirky humor made the first game notable, so it's back with better graphics, more tools, and much, much bigger bosses. The game has a staggering amount of variety... and no in-app purchases. Woo!

Artillery Strike
Imagine Battleship with fewer tiles and better graphics, and you've got the basic gist behind Artillery Strike. It's essentially a tower defense game where all you do is shoot, pausing periodically to upgrade your guns or place new ones to replace those that have been destroyed. Online multiplayer via Google Games is a big plus, but a freemium model is a bit of a letdown.

Card Wars - Adventure Time
Adventure Time's inexplicable popularity has always been a mystery to me, but if you're a fan, you'll no doubt recognize this as a digital version of the card game played in one episode of the whimsical show. It's got the usual mechanics that should be familiar to general battle card game fans, with the addition of specific lanes for combat. Unfortunately it's a full four bucks plus in-app purchases for more cards/deck slots/what have you.

If you're in the mood for an adventure game (that's point-and-click adventure, not we-don't-know-what-to-call-this-genre action adventure) with an unapologetically bleak, old-school aesthetic, then give NothingElse a try. It's your usual side-scrolling, room by room affair interspersed with text-based story progression (think Donnie Darko) and a few puzzles for kicks. It's free with no in-app purchases.
