Samsung launches Galaxy A8s featuring Infinity-O display in China

Punch hole displays seem to be the biggest trend of 2019, with multiple manufacturers racing to release the first device rocking this new display tech. Sure, a notch is fine, but why not remove the bits around the camera and have a round cutout in the display?

Samsung has officially announced the new Galaxy A8s in China featuring the company’s Infinity-O display. The 6.4-inch 19.5:9 ratio display has a large round cutout in the top left corner housing the front-facing camera, and it’s surprisingly large!

Other specs include a Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a triple 24MP/5MP/10MP camera setup shared with the Galaxy A7. It’s no flagship, but the specs are pretty good. Unfortunately the device is missing a headphone jack, a worrying decision coming from the company that has kept it alive thus far.

The device will be launching in China soon in blue, green, and silver. A launch outside of China is likely but not confirmed. However, we’re most excited to see the tech that’s almost guaranteed to be present in the Galaxy S10.

So now that the Infinity-O display and the punch hole is out, is it the notch replacement we had hoped for? Leave a comment!
