Huawei announces 200 million phones shipped in 2018

Huawei remains the second biggest phone maker in the world, despite the companies troubles in the US. In fact, a few countries are giving the company trouble both in the smartphone market and in networking gear.

Nonetheless Huawei has had a great year in terms of smartphone shipments. While in 2017 the company shipped 153 million devices, this year the number jumped to a massive 200 million. The majority of this is in mid-range and budget devices, as the Nova series has sold 65 million alone. The P20 and Mate 20 flagship series have sold 21 million total. Honor, Huawei’s budget brand, has done great as well, though we don’t have exact numbers for it.

Much of this success is due to the fact that, quite simply, the company puts out some great devices. However, fears over spying and security risks, whether they’re legitimate or not, may take a toll on the company long term. But for now, Huawei is seeing major success.
