Amazon discounting first gen Amazon Echo for a limited time

Amazon’s Echo family has grown quite a bit lately, but if none of those new devices have convinced you to invite Alexa into your home, perhaps a new Amazon deal will.

Amazon is now discounting the original Amazon Echo. The sale is part of Amazon’s Deal of the Day, cutting the price on the refurbished version of the first gen Echo model. The deal applies to both the black and white versions of the device.

While these are refurbished models, Amazon says that they’re all tested and certified to look and work like new, so you don’t have to worry about receiving a unit that’s been dinged up or possibly not functional.

While Amazon does offer a newer version of the Echo, this first gen model offers a low-cost way to try a full-size Echo device and see what the smart speaker trend is all about. With the Amazon Echo and Amazon’s Alexa assistant, you can ask questions, listen to music, get news and weather info, and control smart home products. The Echo also functions as a Bluetooth speaker, so if you’ve got a phone or other music player with Bluetooth, you can pump tunes through the Echo that way.

There’s no much time left in this deal, so if you’re at all interested, you’ll want to act soon.
