Honor announces Honor 8X and 8X Max for the Chinese market

Honor has announced the latest version of its budget line of X devices. The Honor 8X takes all the new tech and ideas that debuted on their higher end devices and put it into an affordable device for the masses.

The phone features a huge 6.5-inch 19.5:9 ratio display with a 2340x1080p resolution. There’s a notch, but the chin has been shrunk for a very impressive 91% screen-to-body ratio.

Other specs include a Kirin 710 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB of 128GB of storage with a microSD slot, dual 20MP + 2MP rear cameras, a 16MP front camera, and a beefy 3,750 mAh battery.

Honor also announced the bigger 8X Max, though it’s a bit lower end. It has a ridiculous 7.12-inch 1080p display with an Essential-style notch, a Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB of RAM, dual 16MP + 2MP cameras, an 8MP front camera, and a massive 5,000 mAh battery. You’ll also be able to get the device with a Snapdragon 660 and 6GB of RAM down the road.

Both devices drop the metal backs of their predecessors for an Honor 10-like glass back with fancy reflections, and retain the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Honor 8X in 4GB/64GB flavor is 1,399 Chinese yuan (or $205 USD), while the 6GB/64GB version is 1,599 yuan ($234 USD) and the 6GB/128GB version is 1,899 yuan ($278 USD). The Honor 8X Max is 1,499 yuan ($219 USD) for the 4GB/64GB model and 1,799 yuan ($263 USD) for the 4GB/128GB model. The two devices are currently only announced for the Chinese market though they should come to other countries soon. Pre-orders start today and the device ships September 11.
