Google Pay expands to Italy

Google continues to work diligently to expand availability of its mobile payment service, Google Pay.

The latest expansion market is Italy. Google Pay is now supported by seven different banks in Italy, including Nexi and its partner banks, Widiba, Banca Mediolanum, Boon, HYPE, N26, and Revolut. That means if you bank at any of these establishments and you have a Visa, MasterCard, or Maestro debit or credit card, you can now use those cards to take advantage of Google Pay.

While bank support is essential, businesses need to support the mobile payment option as well, so just keep an eye out for the Google Pay logo where you shop. If you see that, you’ll be able to use your phone or your Wear OS smartwatch (with NFC on board) to check out.
