Fortnite Battle Royale expands to more devices, adds VOIP support
It has been almost a month since Epic Games launched Fortnite Battle Royale on Android devices, and now the company is adding support for even more phones along with one of the more oft-requested features for the game.
Epic launches weekly patches for Fortnite, and this week’s launch is patch v5.40. As is par for the course there is a lot to go through, with weapon balances, changes, additions, new features, and more. For instance, the game now supports a new mode called High Stakes, which you can check out in Epic’s video at the bottom of this post.
For Android users specifically, Epic is bringing VOIP support to the game, which means players can now finally talk to one another while playing the title. In addition to that, Epic is adding support for the Essential Phone and some Sony Xperia, HTC, and Motorola handsets. Unfortunately, Epic doesn’t go into any detail about which specific models from Motorola, Sony, or HTC are supported.
The v5.40 patch also includes memory optimization for handsets that are using Areno GPUs, which should help boost game performance.
The latest patch for Fortnite Battle Royale on Android is available now.
