Google may open its own retail store in Chicago
Google’s retail presence has been spotty at best, with some pop-up stores here and there as well as brief partnerships in other big box retail locations. But if a new report from the Chicago Tribune is any indicator, Google might be aiming to change that.
The publication is reporting that Google is close to finalizing a lease agreement for a retail space in the Fulton Market district, which is located in Chicago, Illinois. The space would be 14,000 square feet spread across the first and second floors. However, it is not known just how much of that space would be used by Google for retail.
When reached for comment, a Google representative said “We don’t comment on rumor or speculation”, so it looks like the company isn’t quite ready to discuss anything just yet. But if the lease agreement is approved we may be hearing more about a future retail presence from Google sooner rather than later.
What do you think? Should Google launch its own retail storefront?
