Gmail for Android adds confidential mode

Sending and receiving confidential documents is now a lot safer while using Gmail.

Google has officially rolled out confidential mode for Gmail in the Android and iOS apps. This will allow users to send emails and attachments with confidential information therein, coupled with expiration dates as well as the ability to revoke access to the content whenever they want. The receiver of a message marked confidential, whether it’s an attachment or in the body of the email, will not be able to forward, copy, download, or print that content.

However, it’s worth noting that the new confidential mode doesn’t stop anyone from just taking a screenshot of the confidential material, so keep that in mind.

If you want to use confidential mode, you simply need to hit the “Compose” button to start your email. After that, tap on the three dot menu on the top-right of the screen, which will then show a “confidential mode” option. Tap on that and you’ll be given options to set a passcode for the email, an expiration date, and more.
