Amazon introduces Alexa Cast, allowing you to stream Amazon Music to your Alexa-enabled devices
Previously, the only ways to play music on your Amazon Echo was to use your voice or Bluetooth. This is in stark contrast to the Google Home family of devices, which have Google Cast support, a feature that allows you to stream music from your mobile device with a press of a button. This is a surprisingly useful feature when you want to control the music from your phone or have playlists you want to play.
Amazon is finally adding a similar feature, though it’s locked to Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music subscribers. It’s called Alexa Cast (such an inventive name) and allows you to stream Amazon Music to an Alexa-enabled speaker with the press of a button. The system is almost identical to Google Cast.
The feature doesn’t just work on Echos though. It also works on other speakers with Alexa built-in, like Sonos and Bose. It’s a great feature for those tied up in the Amazon ecosystem. The feature is available today so you can give it a shot now!
