OnePlus 3 and 3T updated with Face Unlock support and more

OnePlus recently unveiled the OnePlus 6, but the company isn’t forgetting about its older handsets. OnePlus is now sending out an update to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, bringing new features to both devices.

OnePlus confirmed the software update for both the OnePlus 3 & 3T via its official forums this week. This will bring the software to version OxygenOS 5.0.3, and it’s a standard over-the-air (OTA) update, which means it is rolling out in stages. So if you have a OnePlus 3 or 3T, keep an eye out.

As far as what’s new, the upgrade will bump up the handsets to Android security patch 2018.5 and add the Face Unlock feature for a new biometric security measure. OnePlus is also refining the Shelf UI, offering new designs for app shortcuts, and even more options when you long press on an app icon.

Other new additions include a new weather widget, a new “large files” category for the file manager, a “Recently Deleted” folder in your photos gallery, and more.

The update begins rolling out now, so if you have a OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T you should get the new software soon.
