Razer Phone updated to Android 8.1 as it goes on sale at Best Buy

Last month, let owners of the Razer Phone know that they would not be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. Thatwould be bad news, if it wasn’t for the fact the company was going to upgrade its phone to Android 8.1 instead.

Razer confirmed the new software update would arrive sometime between the middle of April and the end of the month. Sure enough, here we are on April 16 and the Razer Phone’s Android 8.1 Oreo update is officially rolling out.

This is an over the air (OTA) rollout, and it is happening in phases. Razer says it will take about 10 days to finish the update process, so if you don’t receive the update today, keep an eye out over the coming days.

What’s more, if you haven’t already picked up a Razer Phone, you can now buy one from Best Buy’s online storefront. It’s available with both the chrome Snake logo on the back, and the green one if you prefer a more colorful option. They both retail for $699.99, and both variants are unlocked. The Razer Phone will be available “soon” in Best Buy retail stores.

Do you plan on picking up the Razer Phone from Best Buy?
