Moto E5 appears in leaked image sporting rear fingerprint sensor
Moto’s E line of smartphones stands as the company’s affordable offering, starting at just $129.99 for the base model. While they may be easy on the wallet, the E smartphones offer plenty of bang for the buck and boast high praise from critics and customers alike. The next device in the series is the Moto E5, which has appeared in a leaked image. Strong similarities run from the Moto E4 into the Moto E5, but one very notable change is a shift in the position of the fingerprint sensor.
The Moto E4 sported a fingerprint sensor just beneath the display, following a design trend that isn’t popular anymore. With a rear sensor, the Moto E5 looks less like a budget device. Lenovo has also added a nice touch by putting the Moto logo over top of the sensor, providing a refined look for the device. It should be noted that the fingerprint sensor does not double as a power button, as that remains on the right edge of the E5.
No other major changes appear in the photos, which show only minor tweaks to the design of the E5. A notable lack of change is apparent in the charging port which, while not confirmed, does appear to be using the old microUSB standard, rather than the newer USB Type-C design.
The Moto E5 isn’t expected to be released until late spring/early summer, so stay tuned for more rumors, reports, and leaks.
